The Children of Discord

The Children of Discord have existed in fairly small numbers for quite some time, though there is some disagreement as to their exact origins-and disagreement is a thing which holds no fear for this Covenant of fey Kindred. With generally accepted roots in a reconstructionist Greek movement in Byzantium (though it is claimed by some that its true roots lie with a Hellenistic mystery cult or even an older Hellenic tradition); the Children of Discord pursue insight through madness, absurdity, and deviance. Undeath is, as is life, a thing of balances, inconsistencies, and paradoxes. Eschewing the codified and often monolithic beliefs of other covenants, they believe existence is a thing of many hidden meanings-and what is unseen is often right in front of the eyes. Some believe these Kindred to be touched by elder beings of madness and chaos, but such rumors are of course unconfirmable. What does seem fairly certain is that the members of this Covenant tend to display strange deficiencies of mind or emotion, while developing undeniable insights. Children of Discord have been known to "adopt" members of other covenants or mortals, affably "sharing their wisdom" to willing and unwilling alike. Religiously and ideologically diverse, they are often mystics, absurdists, deviants, and heretics, but never nihilists.
